Many people believe live trainings work better simply because people can talk to each other face‑to‑face, but that’s not the real reason. In reality, their effectiveness comes from something else entirely, they naturally follow a powerful learning rhythm. Great offline trainings follow one simple logic: action → reflection → understanding → application. This is Kolb’s Cycle. And it’s incredibly powerful. The problem? It was almost impossible to implement it in online learning. That’s why 90% of online courses look like “interactive lectures”: nice slides, videos, quizzes. But that’s content consumption, not transformation. And now - the unexpected twist. For the first time, online learning has caught up with offline experiences. Because AI removed the main barrier: it finally allows learners to get experience, reflection, and practice in a personalized way. Here’s how Kolb’s Cycle looks in modern learning design: 1️⃣ Concrete Experience — action Essence: the learner must do something, live through a situation, face a task — ideally experiencing difficulty or making a mistake that shows their current model doesn’t work. How online: role-based dialogue, scenario simulation. 2️⃣ Reflective Observation — reflection Essence: pause and think — what happened, what actions were taken, and why the result turned out this way. How online: interactive reflection prompts; AI coach provides feedback based on performance and the learner’s own reflections. 3️⃣ Abstract Conceptualisation — understanding Essence: form a new behavioural model — concepts, principles, algorithms that explain how to act more effectively. How online: short video lecture, model breakdown, interactive frameworks, checklists, interactive infographics. 4️⃣ Active Experimentation — application Essence: try the new model in a safe environment and observe the result. How online: AI-based simulation, situational exercise, case-solving with the new approach; AI coach supports and adjusts. The outcome? Online learning stops being “content” and becomes a behaviour tracker. A course becomes a training simulator, not a film. Kolb’s Cycle finally becomes real in digital learning. Do you use this framework? What results have you seen?

𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿. Most people rush through their days without stopping to think. This was me for years. I'd rush from meeting to meeting, decision to decision, rarely pausing to consider what worked and what didn't. The results? • Repeated mistakes • Missed opportunities • Limited personal growth • Team frustration 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗜 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟭𝟱 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝘂𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗱𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Here's what happened: → I identified patterns in my decision-making → I recognized blind spots in my leadership approach → I connected dots between seemingly unrelated challenges → My team felt more heard when I implemented their feedback The power wasn't in complex frameworks or expensive coaching. It was in asking simple questions: • What went well today? • What could I have handled better? • What did I learn? • How can I apply this tomorrow? This practice transformed not just my leadership but my life. Moments of quiet contemplation revealed solutions I couldn't see when constantly moving. The best leaders I know make reflection non-negotiable. It's not about having more time - it's about making better use of the time you have. Try this: Block 15 minutes before bed tonight. Ask yourself those four questions. Write down your answers. Do this for one week and watch what happens. I'm Jason. What reflection practice has most impacted your leadership journey?

If you run a small business, networking isn’t just a nice-to-have. It’s an investment. Over the past year, I’ve attended events from an Amazon Web Services (AWS) soccer game to an American Express panel, and even a LinkedIn for Marketing launch party in NYC. One thing became clear: the connections you make and how you nurture them, can shape your business in ways you don’t see immediately. Here are 5 strategies that have made a real difference for Brkaway: Invest in conversations, not contacts. Showing up isn’t enough. At the AWS soccer game, I spent halftime asking people about their businesses and challenges instead of pitching Brkaway. That curiosity opened doors, sparked insights, and reinforced a simple truth: networking is about investing in others first. One warm introduction can change everything. Referrals and intros have outsized impact. A single connection might lead to a client, partner, or advice that saves months of trial and error. Showing up in the right rooms consistently keeps your business top of mind with the people who matter. Listen more than you pitch. At events like the AMEX panel, listening carefully was more powerful than rehearsing my elevator pitch. When you focus on understanding what others need, you build trust and credibility. People remember how you made them feel, not your elevator pitch. The best connections happen in between. At the NYC launch party, some of the most valuable conversations happened casually.. waiting for elevators, grabbing a drink, walking between spaces. Casual, unscripted moments often lead to more authentic relationships than formal networking. Follow up or it didn’t happen. Meeting someone is just the start. The real investment comes afterward: connecting on LinkedIn, tracking conversations, setting reminders, and engaging with people’s content. That’s how relationships grow into opportunities. Remember, networking isn’t a checkbox. It’s equity in your business.

Last week I shared how AI helped analyze our retreat feedback survey data in minutes. Today, I want to highlight the three elements that our team rated most impactful from our recent company retreat in Ireland... - [New addition] "Connection Court": We created a dedicated space in the castle with games, snacks, and comfy seating that was open throughout the day and late into the night. This gave people a relaxed place to connect in case of bad weather and removed the pressure to drink or socialize in high-energy environments. This was great for introverts and those who don't enjoy the bar scene and provided more inclusive evening activities that worked for everyone. - Doist Build (our company hackathon) hit different this year: We surveyed the team for "hack-worthy" topics ahead of the retreat, pre-selected the top 10 we felt could make an impact on the company, and revealed them the day before so people could start brainstorming. Morning of, it was first-come-first-serve with limited seats per topic, which created some incredible energy to start the day. Best part? The winning team's project was implemented right there at the retreat and immediately improved our onboarding metrics 🚀 - "Choose your own adventure" itinerary structure: Instead of forcing everyone into the same activities, we offered parallel options during free time. We balanced physical activities (hiking, sports), cultural experiences (castle tours, local music), and team building events (escape rooms, group games). This approach let people naturally form smaller groups around common interests, creating deeper connections through shared experiences. After organizing multiple retreats over the years, one principle stands out: create a flexible structure and trust your team to find meaningful ways to connect. When people have the freedom to choose activities that align with their interests and energy levels, authentic relationships naturally develop. Hope this is helpful and I'd love to hear what's working for other teams as well 👇

Reflection is one of the most powerful tools for growth. Yet, its so easy to overlook. I've always asked myself: What’s working? What isn’t? What can I do better? Make this happen: 1. Block Time: Put an hour on your calendar at the end of each month. Treat it as a non-negotiable meeting with yourself. 2. Ask the Right Questions: I use these prompts: • What were my biggest wins this month? • What challenges did I face, and how did I handle them? • What lessons did I learn? • Where did I spend my time, and was it aligned with my goals? • What do I want to do differently next month? 3. Write It Down: There’s something powerful about putting pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard). Documenting your thoughts helps clarify them and gives you something to review later. 4. Set Intentions: Based on your reflection, identify 2-3 priorities for the next month. Keep them actionable and specific. Reflection is about learning from your experiences. It’s about stepping back, recalibrating, and moving forward with intention.

Over the next 3 months, I’m hosting 4 major events in France, UK, USA and KSA. Beforehand, I want to share my top tips on how to get the best out of networking. 1. Set Clear Targets Action: Make a hit list of the top 10 companies or people you need to meet. Research what they care about—know their wins, pain points, & what they’re hunting for before you walk through the door. Outcome: These conversations won’t just happen by chance. By doing your homework, you’ll turn a five-minute chat into a deal-building moment. Schedule meetings in advance, & after the event, send a tailored follow-up email that shows you were listening. 2. Take the Stage (Literally) Action: Get on the agenda. Whether it’s a keynote, panel, or fireside chat, nothing says “I’m the one to watch” like holding the mic. Use this time to address the industry’s biggest challenges & position yourself—& your company—as the answer. Outcome: Speaking builds instant credibility. It’s not just exposure; it’s authority. Post-event, share the highlights on LinkedIn & invite attendees to continue the conversation, turning an audience into a lead pipeline. 3. Own the Floor Action: Don’t just lurk—work the room. Engage with key exhibitors, ask questions, & position yourself as a resource, not just another pitch. Be direct but curious: “What’s your biggest challenge this year?” and “How can I help?” are powerful openers. Outcome: You’ll stand out as someone who listens. Take notes during conversations, & follow up within 48 hours with a personalised message. Not a generic “great meeting you”—send actionable insights or specific ideas that move the ball forward. 4. Host the Inner Circle Action: People bond better in a more relaxed setting than over Wi-Fi. Organise an exclusive dinner, roundtable, or cocktail event for a curated group of heavy hitters. Keep it intimate—this is about building relationships, not just showing off. Go easy on the heavy sell. Outcome: People remember who brought them value & connections, not who handed out free pens. Post-event, share any key takeaways & book one-on-one follow-ups to solidify what you started over drinks. 5. Hack the Tech Action: Use every tool at your disposal—event apps, LinkedIn, QR codes. Pre-event, reach out to attendees & book meetings. At the event, swap contacts digitally to keep things seamless, & use a CRM to track every interaction. Outcome: You’ll leave the event with an organised roadmap of leads, not just a stack of business cards destined for a desk drawer. Follow up strategically with segmented, value-driven emails & keep the momentum alive. The Bottom Line: Trade fairs & exhibitions aren’t just networking. Preparation, presence, & follow-up separate those who close deals from those who just collect swag bags. Be human. Don’t think of this as just a branding exercise but an opportunity for long term partnerships. Be genuine - your new contacts will become close contacts, if not friends. Make it count! #revenuegrowth

𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙣𝙚𝙩𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙨 𝙬𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣 𝙞𝙣 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥.   I learned this sitting at a board dinner in Sydney - the only woman among twelve men.   The chairman mentioned they couldn't find female directors.   Days earlier, I had met five board-ready women actively seeking directorships.   This disconnect revealed everything wrong with how we approach professional advancement.   A few truths about real networking:   • Casual connections rarely create opportunities • Random events waste valuable time   • Most networking advice focuses on quantity over quality   𝙋𝙍𝙊𝙓𝙄𝙈𝙄𝙏𝙔 𝙏𝙊 𝙋𝙊𝙒𝙀𝙍 determines advancement more than talent.   Our research shows fewer than 5% of ASX and NASDAQ companies have balanced leadership. This persists because:   The system serves itself, not talent. Generic networking preserves existing hierarchies. Good networkers often make terrible leaders.   Here's what actually works:   𝘽𝙐𝙄𝙇𝘿 𝙎𝙏𝙍𝘼𝙏𝙀𝙂𝙄𝘾 𝙉𝙀𝙏𝙒𝙊𝙍𝙆𝙎 • Start with your end goal • Identify specific decision-makers • Create value before asking favors • Track every promising connection   𝙁𝙊𝘾𝙐𝙎 𝙊𝙉 𝘾𝙊𝙉𝙑𝙀𝙍𝙎𝙄𝙊𝙉 • One champion outweighs 100 contacts • Quality of connections beats quantity • Measure results, not activity   𝙇𝙀𝙑𝙀𝙍𝘼𝙂𝙀 𝙉𝙀𝙏𝙒𝙊𝙍𝙆 𝙀𝙁𝙁𝙀𝘾𝙏𝙎 • Help others reach their goals • Build reputation through results • Create new pathways to leadership   At Ellect, we tested this framework:   Results after 5 events: - 3 women secured board interviews - 2 received executive offers - 90% made advancement-focused connections   𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙣𝙚𝙩𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙨 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙢𝙚𝙚𝙩. 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙘 𝙣𝙚𝙩𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙨 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙙𝙤𝙤𝙧𝙨 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙣.   The difference drives everything.   https://lnkd.in/etjAFXks

We just got back from our best away days ever. Here's 6 things I've learned about putting on retreats: 𝟭. 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆 💚 • Retreats with the whole team are about instilling our values, culture and history. • Forgetting about outputs takes all the pressure off, and it's a much better way of setting up the team for success. 𝟮. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲. 🧘 • Decide on the balance of work vs play, and then don't let anything eat into the play time. • The ultimate purpose of time away - for us at least - is bonding with each other. That won't happen if you're always working. 𝟯. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲. 🎨 • We're away for two nights. We used to pack in training and workshops on all kinds of topics. Interesting? Yes. Coherent? No. And all that shifting of focus takes its toll. • Now we pick a theme and build a narrative around it, so everything flows from one session to the next. This year's theme? Exploring creativity. 𝟰. 𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻, 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗺 𝘂𝗽 👂 • Hands up who wants to hear from the leadership team for 48 hours straight. No one? • As leaders our job is to pick the theme and desired outcomes and then get out of the way to let the team bring it to life. • This year, as ever, I was astounded by what they came up with (even when I found myself interviewing a wooden barrel for 15 minutes...🧐). 𝟱. 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗙𝗧𝗪 🙌 • One of our values is "for everyone". That applies to our own events as well as our environmental campaigns. • Some people love organised fun. Others just want to chill with a book. One of the nicest things I heard from a colleague this year is that the away days now worked for the introverts too! 𝟲. 𝗗𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗺𝗽 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗻𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀 🍪 • There seems to be close correlation between the quality and quantity of food and drink on offer, and the success of the event. • Coincidence? Maybe. But, as we once discovered to our cost, a hungry team is not a happy team. Err on the side of plenty (but trust us, you don't need the fried egg flavour crisps 🤢) There's much more, but that seems like a good place to start and, after two days of non-stop talking, I need a rest myself. 🥱 ++ P.S. I'm CEO of environmental charity Hubbub. We bring business, government and civil society together to create campaigns that inspire & support people to make choices that are good for the environment. Online Networking Strategist | I help Coaches & Consultants turn Meaningful Networking Conversations into Global Visibility, Business Opportunities, Clients | Creator of the Trust-Building Visibility System

Let’s be clear, when it comes to business success, one truth stands tall: Your network is your net worth. But you and I both know, networking is no longer about collecting business cards at events or sending cold messages on LinkedIn. It’s about leveraging the right platforms and opportunities that put you in front of the right people—consistently and impactfully. And that’s where the power of strategic networking comes in. Because Visibility is Not Just About Being Seen—It’s About Being Remembered. Let's say, you might be an expert in your field, have years of experience, and offer incredible value, but if people don’t see you, hear you, and experience what you bring to the table, you’re the best-kept secret in your industry. So, how do you make sure you’re not just another name in the crowd? The key…leveraging the right networks, BUT where are they? In a world that has changed and is changing, constantly, traditional networking events, while still valuable, are no longer the only way to build relationships that lead to business growth. My discovery of Virtual Expos, which I’ve experienced as living, breathing networking and expertise presenting spaces where you’re not just showing up for an hour, or a day, but where you are creating an ongoing presence—available 24/7 for the right people to see and connect with you. Think of it in this way: Instead of hoping someone remembers you from a fleeting networking or speaking event, your expo booth offers deeper levels of connection, building familiarity and trust. Instead of spending time and money traveling to conferences, you can connect globally without leaving your office. Instead of one-time interactions, the expo creates multiple touchpoints—people see your videos, book calls, attend your live presentations, and keep engaging with you. So, for example, let’s say you’re a Nutrition Expert and you’re looking for more recognition in new ways. You’re helping women balance their hormones and feel their best, here’s how you’d leverage the expo platform: - Host an interactive workshop on “How to Eat for Energy & Hormonal Balance." - Offer a free assessment where visitors get personalized tips. - Display downloadable PDF’s and success stories inside your booth. - Use live networking sessions to connect with potential clients or partners—other exhibitors and they may not even be within your industry. So, you see, traditional networking is like throwing a business card into a room full of people, hoping it lands in the right hands. While being and exhibitor at a Virtual Expo is like setting up a powerful, interactive business hub that does the heavy lifting for you and you’re part of a network of high-value connections. If this resonates and you’d like to explore if there’s a seat at the table of my May Virtual Expo, DM me today and we’ll check how you can leverage this opportunity. …and if you’ve not attended a virtual expo yet, what questions do you have, now that you read my post?
