Meet Tony Godar, Senior Engineering Manager on Roku's Platform UI team in Cambridge. Working across Subscriptions, Search, and Voice, Tony turns complex ideas into experiences that help shape how people discover and enjoy content on Roku. 🔍 📺 Tony describes the Cambridge office as "candid, curious, and quietly ambitious, with British wit and global reach." 🇬🇧 😉 That same mindset shapes his team, where collaboration is built on high trust, low ego, and solving hard problems together. 🧩 🤝 One project he is especially proud of is helping build #Howdy, Roku's ad-free subscription service within the Roku Channel. 🤠 Bringing it to life required close collaboration across Product, Engineering, and partner teams. For Tony, thriving in engineering leadership means being able to translate between technology and people, and between strategy and the practical decisions that bring ideas to life. What stands out most to Tony is how Roku combines global reach with a close-knit team culture. 🌍 👥 "The best part is the combination of scale and closeness. Our work can reach millions of viewers, but the people behind it still feel like a real team rather than a collection of job titles." 😌 If you enjoy smart people, honest conversations, and solving challenging problems without taking yourself too seriously, Roku Cambridge might be a place for you. 🇬🇧 #WeAreRoku

This week's #RisingStreamers aren't just using AI—they're helping shape how it's built and experienced at Roku. 👾 🌐 🤖 VEERA SUBRAHMANYA VIGNESH VEMULA, a Machine Learning Engineer intern in Bengaluru, spent the summer helping our Ads Serving team advance GenAI capabilities, building models for prompt optimization and a new video ad moderation platform. He was surprised to find Roku has its own internal AI agent with full knowledge of the company, handy for getting oriented fast as a new intern. 📝 But what stuck with him most was how supported he felt: "The mentors and managers make sure your voice is heard," Veera says. "That kind of trust makes you want to show up and give your best every day." 🤝 🙂↕️ 📲 In Cambridge, Tami Adekoya, a Product Management intern on our Mobile team, is bringing explainable recommendations to the Roku Mobile App, helping users understand why content is being recommended to them. On her own initiative, Tami built three AI assistants, including two that quietly run her core workstreams in the background. 💬 What surprised her most was Roku's culture of experimentation: "People here are building their own AI agents and automations," she says. "The possibilities feel genuinely limitless." 🚀 At Roku, interns don't just learn about AI—they help put it to work. ✨ #WeAreRoku #RisingStreamers2026

Great streaming should feel like it was made for you, not just made available to you. 💜 ✨ That's the thinking behind our refreshed multicultural destinations: API Voices, Black Voices, Latino Voices, LGBTQ+ Voices, and Women's Voices—curated homes for storytelling that reflect the audiences they celebrates, front and center on the Roku home screen. 📺 Our approach made this refresh distinctive: ✧ Collaboration: Design, Content Curation, Brand, Inclusion, and Ad Partnership teams built this together from day one. ✧ Authenticity: We partnered with artists from each community to shape the visual identity of their destination. The art is original work made by people with a true connection to the communities it represents. ✧ Listening: Our ERGs helped shape the work from the start, so the details reflect real experiences and perspectives. 💡 The result: destinations that feel authentic and representative—built with each community in mind, not just about them. Which #MulticulturalDestination are you visiting first? Drop the destination name in Search on your Roku device to explore! #WeAreRoku

Last month, we celebrated students from Santa Teresa High School, who just completed the final phase of our #AppDesignChallenge! 📱 📺 👏 In partnership with San Jose Works, students completed a six-week summer intensive, gaining hands-on experience building real apps for our platform, and strengthening their professional skills. 📈 🧰 Students leveled up their apps by focusing on: 📱 Advanced feature development 🎨 Improved visual design ✨ Enhanced user experience Watching these students take themselves to the next level is a reminder of what's possible when young people get the tools, mentorship, and opportunity to build for a real-world platform. 🔗 🤝 Congratulations to all the students who put in the work this summer. ☀️ We can't wait to see what you build next! #WeAreRoku #SocialImpactAtRoku

🌟 Meet two more of this summer’s #RisingStreamers! 🚀 💜 ⚽ Cynthia Chao Gomez, Client Services intern in New York, is exploring how this summer’s World Cup can shape streaming through an intern project focused on driving growth for Roku and its streaming partners. 🤖 Joseph Roy Moyano, Software Engineering intern in Manchester, is building an AI testing agent that can understand and navigate software the way a person would—without relying on image or video processing. ▶️ While their projects looked different, both interns noticed the same thing: #AI is becoming a natural part of how teams collaborate and solve problems at Roku. Joseph was surprised by how quickly AI had been embraced across the company, with adoption encouraged wherever it can make an impact. 📈 “We have access to personalized agents, platforms that help unlock internal knowledge, and AI-powered tools that are constantly evolving,” he says. Cynthia saw that openness go both ways. 🔁 “It’s been especially interesting to see how eager my supervisors are to learn more—including asking me how Gen Z uses AI in everyday life.” Their advice for future interns? 💡 Stay curious, ask questions, and bring your authentic self to the experience. As Cynthia puts it, Roku values “individuality, authenticity, and original thought.” 🧠 #WeAreRoku #RisingStreamers2026 #Internship

Summer heat, meet Camp Roku. 🏕️ Our Santa Monica office turned up the fun with lemonade, shaved ice, ice cream, and churros (yes, we had all four). 🍋 🍧🍦 Employees competed in camp classics like egg-and-spoon races, (inflatable) axe throwing, and cornhole, all overseen by our very own "camp counselors." 🥚 🥄 🪓 🫘 Thanks to our incredible Workplace Experience team for making days like this so fun for our employees. ☀️ #WeAreRoku

Roku's commitment to LGBTQ+ storytelling continues. 🏳️🌈 In June, we co-hosted a special screening and panel for "Gamechangers: The Ashlyn Harris Story," a Roku Original. The program was part of #Frameline50—the 50th edition of the San Francisco International LGBTQ+ Film Festival, the longest-running and largest LGBTQ+ film festival in the world. 🎞️ "Gamechangers" follows soccer icon Ashlyn Harris' journey from a difficult childhood to becoming a two-time FIFA World Cup champion and USWNT star, and now, a mother and fierce advocate for women athletes and LGBTQ+ rights. ⚽ ✨ The moderated panel on craft, representation, and impact followed the screening and included: ✶ Ashley Finn – Post Production, Roku ✶ Sasha Friedlander – Editor ✶ Matthew Ramsey – Director of Partnerships & Development, Frameline (Moderator) ✶ Cynthia Wade – Showrunner We dug into how Ashlyn's story found its way to screen, the editorial choices behind shaping a life into a narrative, what it means to steward a queer athlete's story with care, and the power of bringing stories like this into homes everywhere through streaming. 📽️ Thank you to Frameline, the panelists, and everyone who joined us. 👏 We're proud to support LGBTQ+ storytelling and the filmmakers bringing it to life. #WeAreRoku #Gamechangers #WomensSports
